Alzheimer’s Association Advocacy Day

Join the Alzheimer’s Association Advocacy Day on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Hawaii State Capitol! This is your chance to make a difference and advocate for those affected by Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias.

Priority legislation focuses on standardizing cognitive assessment testing at annual wellness visits, providing access to disease-modifying treatments, improving the quality of care for those living with dementia, and initiating the establishment of an Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) in Hawaii.

By participating, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the latest in Alzheimer’s and treatments, meet with state legislators, share your experiences, and support Alzheimer’s policy requests.

Caregiver Awareness Day at the Capitol

Join the Hawaiʻi Family Caregiver Coalition (HFCC) Annual Caregiver Awareness Day at the Capitol. Feel free to bring your associates, colleagues, and caregiver friends.

Meet in Conference Room 437 on Wed. 4/15/26 at 8:00 AM for breakfast snacks and orientation. Then we’ll meet with legislators and staff. We’ll meet back in the room for a debrief at 11:30 AM and then depart at 12:00 PM.

Cultivating Care: Memory Café – Cultivation

The Cultivating Care: Memory Café is a monthly garden-based program for people living with memory loss and their care partners. Held at Ho‘ōla ʻĀina Pilipili Accessible Garden site, each gathering offers a welcoming outdoor space to connect, create, and build community through meaningful, accessible activities.

The garden includes wide pathways, shaded areas, seating, accessible restrooms, lighting, and nearby parking. We provide all tools, gloves, and garden materials, and serve light refreshments at each session. Registration is required, and a map with parking and site details will be shared upon sign-up.

Participants will be asked to sign in at the event and complete a brief evaluation form to support and improve the program. Our sessions will provide a supportive, relaxing environment.

Brain Healthy Nutrition – Hawaiʻi Dementia Initiative Coalition Meeting

Join our next Hawaiʻi Dementia Initiative Coalition meeting to discover how local flavors and brain-healthy foods can boost brain health, reduce dementia risk, and support overall wellness. We’ll also share updates on the coalition, action teams, and upcoming events.

Describe the core nutrition principles of the Mediterranean Diet and the MIND Diet.
Identify locally available foods that align with brain‑healthy nutrition guidelines.
Explain how culturally relevant, locally sourced food can promote health equity in Hawaiʻi communities.
Recognize Nutrition Supports Services and eligibility criteria.
Identify the roles of health centers, health care providers and community-based organizations within community care hubs.
