About the Hawai‘i Dementia Initiative
Hawai‘i Dementia Initiative is a coalition of people across Hawai‘i who are passionate about all things dementia. Together, we represent a myriad of experiences, diverse ethnic backgrounds, and multiple island communities.
In Partnership With
What We do

We are collaborating to implement the Hawaiʻi 2035: State Strategic Plan on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias. The State Strategic Plan is the accumulation of community stakeholder voices over three years in the planning phase. It builds upon the inaugural plan Hawaii 2025: State Plan on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias that was published in 2013. The plan incorporates Healthy Brain Initiative Road Map series outcomes and actions, which is a national movement to improve understanding of brain health as a central part of public health practice.

Mission: We are committed to embrace and support with Aloha all of Hawai‘i’s people who are touched by Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias – from prevention and early detection to end of life – always keeping alive the hope of an eventual cure, and aiming for the best quality of life for all.

Hawai‘i Dementia Initiative is convened by the Executive Office on Aging, Hawaiʻi State Department of Health. We receive funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through the BOLD grant which seeks to Build Our Largest Dementia infrastructure. We seek to engage with the community, collaborate with community partners, and elevate the voices of the people to inform statewide actions.
