Is It Alzheimer’s? 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s

This session is designed to help caregivers, family members, and individuals recognize the early signs of Alzheimer’s disease and understand the importance of early detection.

Alzheimer’s and other dementias cause changes in memory, thinking, and behavior that can interfere with daily life. This course provides a clear overview of the 10 most common warning signs, helping participants distinguish between typical age-related changes and signs that may indicate something more serious.

In this session, you will:

Learn to identify the 10 key warning signs of Alzheimer’s
Understand how these signs may appear in yourself or someone you care about
Explore the benefits of early diagnosis and intervention
Discover how to start a conversation with your doctor or encourage a loved one to seek medical advice
Receive guidance on next steps and available resources for support

This course is ideal for anyone who wants to be proactive about brain health and support those who may be experiencing cognitive changes.

A Model for Dementia-Friendly Living Spaces – Growing Older with Lifelong Intellectual Disabilities: When Dementia is Suspected or Diagnosed

This Project ECHO series is a free, practical, case-based education program for health care and human service providers who want to enhance their knowledge, competence, and performance related to the care of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities affected by dementia. Each ECHO session will include a short presentation by a topic expert, followed by a case study submitted in advance by an ECHO participant site, and then open discussion to learn from one another. The NTG and URI/VCU GWEPs will be holding their 11th series of ECHO programs on topics related to intellectual disability and dementia. The theme for the Fall 2025 Series is Post-Diagnostic Supports.

Kauai Caregiver Support Group

This is a monthly get together of caregivers who wish to share and learn from fellow caregivers. Support groups create a safe, confidential, supportive environment or community and a chance for participants to develop informal mutual support and social relationships. They also educate and inform participants about dementia and help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems.

Note: This support group is for family caregivers, not persons living with dementia. If you are interested in programs for persons living with dementia, please contact the office for information [Cindy Fowler, Email: cfowler@alz.org Phone: 808.518.6655].

Space is limited – registration is strongly encouraged. You may be contacted by someone from the Alzheimer’s Association prior to the Support Group.

Caregiver Foundation Youth Caregiver Support Group

Our Youth Caregiver Support Group is a virtual meet-up hosted monthly for young caregivers. If you are 20 years old or younger and identify as a caregiver, please join us! At each meeting we will focus on a different topic, activity, or skill related to youth caregiving (for example, we will talk about self-care, identity, and making safety plans).
Groups are structured by an adult facilitator, but we want your participation and leadership! You are invited to contribute to the extent that you feel comfortable, and we will not force you to speak if you don’t want to.
