The Mediation Center of the Pacific – Kupuna Pono Program
Kupuna Pono is a program designed to help families talk about difficult issues and develop plans to support elderly family members. Family conflicts related to caring for an elderly family member impact everyone in the family. They provide a process for families to address their issues and simultaneously incorporate the recommendations of medical personnel into a customized plan. Kupuna Pono can provide family conferencing and mediation for elder care issues.
Kula No Na Poʻe Hawaiʻi
Kula no nā Poʻe Hawaiʻi is a Native Hawaiian beneficiary serving organization that exists to promote cultural, educational, environmental, and health equity for all. KULA provides the Papakolea Hawaiian Homestead Region a multitude of programs and activities from the Papakolea Community Center. KULA leads several community based research projects and the implementation of the Native Hawaiian Road Map: Navigating the Impacts of Nā Ma’i Poina – Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias.
AARP Hawaiʻi
AARP is a non-profit, non-partisan organization focused on empowering individuals 50 and older to choose how they live as they age. It strengthens communities and advocates for issues like health security, financial stability, and personal fulfillment for this age group. AARP also provides educational programs, webinars, advocacy, caregiver resources online and Global Council of Brain Health leadership.

Gimme-A-Break Hawai’i
Gimme a Break is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to care for caregivers by giving an emotional and physical break as well as resources for continued well-being. Gimme a Break is based on caring for the caregivers to provide support, resources, and outreach to promote self-care and survival. We are all Caregivers, we either were, are or will be. Caregivers deserve support and we support Caregiver’s to dreams again Gimme a Break offers weekly online support groups, online resources, yearly retreats, and outreach events to pamper and educate caregivers.
Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program
The Pacific Islands Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (PI-GWEP) addresses the shortage of geriatrics-trained healthcare practitioners through active and committed academic-community partnerships in its service region. The PI-GWEP faculty members work with medical students, residents, fellows, along with other allied health fields (i.e. social work, public health, and nursing) to build a geriatric-capable medical workforce. The PI-GWEP also provides continuing education (ECHO and Grand Rounds) and collaborates with community partners to provide educational lectures and resources to local caregivers.
Child And Family Service Gerontology Program
Child & Family Service (CFS) is all about FAMILY. Strengthening Hawaiʻi’s families since 1899, CFS is a Hawaiʻi-born, impact-driven, community-based organization. CFS meets families where they are in life and connects with them in the neighborhoods where they live, work and play. Through a variety of programs statewide, CFS offers services on O‘ahu, Kaua‘i, Maui County, and Hawai‘i Island. CFS has an Honoring Kūpuna program that provides Caregiver programs offering respite, resources and support to families caring for elderly loved ones with other health issues. They also provide Wellness and case management programs helping keep kūpuna safe and living independently.

Catholic Charities Hawai’i provides a wide range of social services with dignity, compassion, social justice, and a commitment to excellence. Through programs and advocacy efforts, Catholic Charities Hawai’i serves all people, especially those with the greatest need, regardless of their faith or culture. Catholic Charities Hawai’i Circle of Care for Dementia offers online resources, caregiver workshops, webinars, and evidence based care support programs like REACH and SHARE that provide 1:1 guidance to caregivers.
