In this session, Maddy Alvarez (Care Manager, she/her or he/him) from SAGE will highlight topics such as unique challenges LGBTQ+ caregivers face, aging in place, and caregiver stress in a time of uncertainty. Caregiver Training Workshop on Personal Care

Trainer: Lourdes “Lou” Vergara Marcelo, RN, CDN, CM, CDP, CEO of Advanced Care Training, LLC

This training featuring offers caregivers the opportunity to learn about:
• Prevention for skin injury for sedentary or bed-bound life, incontinence, and briefs.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) refers to specialized clothing and equipment worn to protect individuals from various hazards at home, work, or during medical procedures.

Free workshop for caregivers who meet the following criteria:
• Caregiver provides unpaid care to an individual at least 60 years old.
• Individual receiving care lives in the community and not in a nursing home or care home.

Seating is limited. Registration is required by Monday, June 23rd.

Lewy body dementias (LBD) are the second most common form of degenerative dementia and affect approximately 1.4 million people in the United States. This webinar will cover key aspects of LBD, including symptoms, diagnosis, and care considerations, while highlighting the real-life experiences of a former care partner who navigated the complexities of LBD within her own family. Participants will gain valuable perspectives on the challenges faced by individuals living with LBD and their caregivers and will explore practical strategies for providing compassionate, informed support.
