Positive Approach to Care In-Service at Molokaʻi Community Health Center
Positive Approach to Care trains health care professionals and caregivers to gain a better understanding of dementia and dementia-related behaviors and challenges, and learn positive communication and care partnering techniques. These techniques are designed to improve day-to-day experiences at the community health center and improve quality of life for people living with dementia, staff, caregivers and family members. This training will include continued education credits and the training objectives are:
- Understand the brain changes that occur with dementia
- Understand the categories of unmet emotional and physical needs of people living with dementia that lead to challenging behaviors and situations
- Learn and practice the Positive Physical Approach™ and Hand-under-Hand™ to utilize with patients at the community health center
- Tips and tools to understand, communicate with and optimize quality of life for people living with dementia
